The Importance of Tire Rotations

As a car drives for thousands or tens of thousands of miles, its tires wear at different rates. Although this may not be readily apparent, after 10 or 20 thousand miles, the differences in wear can start to have a serious impact on how the car handles.

Tire rotations allow for the even distribution of wear across all the car's tires. This serves two purposes. The first is that it can dramatically increase the useful life of the tires. For example, a front-wheel drive car will experience sharply faster wear on the front tires than on the rear. Swapping out the front tires before they lose too much tread to be viable will allow for a roughly doubling of the useful life.

The second reason is to prevent negative handling characteristics. Uneven grip can be dangerous, especially in slippery conditions. Come in to our service center today. We're the Columbus area tire rotation experts.
